3 Surprising Reasons to Visit Your Blue Store

Maybe you’ve heard that BCBSRI opened stores in Rhode Island over the last few years. Maybe you’ve even driven by and seen the store in East Providence, Lincoln, or Warwick. But do you know what you can do there?

You can stop by anytime to ask a question about your benefits, get help finding a doctor, or talk with us about making sure you have the right plan. But that’s not all! Here are three surprising reasons to stop by.

1. Talk to a BCBSRI nurse.

Do you have questions about a health condition such as diabetes or heart disease? Or how to save money on your medications? Our nurses and other health professionals are at the store to help.

BCBSRI nurse Jill Curren says members often don’t realize all the resources that are available to help them, both through their plan and in the community. “Whether you need support for a health issue or help coordinating your care between different doctors, we’re here,” says Jill. “And we love meeting members in person.”

GET STARTED: Just stop by or make an appointment by calling 1-844-563-0892 or care@bcbsri.org.

2. Dance! And take other free fitness classes.

Salsa dancing is one of the dozens of no-cost fitness classes our members can enjoy at our stores every week. “I love teaching salsa,” says instructor Maria Rivera, “and I keep it simple so anyone can have fun, with basic steps that are easy to learn.”

No salsa experience is required. BCBSRI member and “regular” Karen Holmander says, “You get so caught up dancing and laughing that you don’t realize you’re actually exercising, and before you know it the hour is through!”

GET STARTED: Sign up for salsa*, yoga, Zumba, muscle toning, and more.

3. Meditate.

You can work yourself into a sweat at the store—and you can relax. Instructor Suann Polverari says, “Even if you’ve never meditated before, you can experience a deep state of relaxation by sitting and paying attention to your breath and thoughts. It’s great for stress management.”

Member Carolyn Blackett completely agrees.“Oh my goodness, you’re in for a treat!” she says. “When the class is over, you feel an openness and connection that stays with you throughout the day.”

GET STARTED: Sign up for a no-cost meditation class.
